Factors associated with hypertension control remain unexplored in Korean adults .The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing hypertension control. This study is a secondary data analysis using records from 2,758 participants over 30 years of age from the 2008-2010 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES). Backward multi-variable logistic regressions were performed. Variables included blood pressure, height, and weight from health examinations, socio-demographic characteristics, and disease-related and health behaviors. Percentages of adults with controlled hypertension were significantly higher in those who were female, age 50-64, with lower educational level, owned a house, had perceived poor health, were aware of having hypertension and took antihypertensive medication, but lower in those who were single, heavy drinkers, and current smokers. In multivariate analysis, factors associated with significantly increased odds of hypertension control were home ownership (odds ratio = 1.37 [95% CI = 1.02-1.85]), no heavy use of alcohol (odds ratio = 1.52 [95% CI = 1.06-2.17]), awareness of hypertension (odds ratio = 30.28 [95% CI = 3.63-252.92]), and taking antihypertensive medication (odds ratio = 35.3 [95% CI = 15.56-80]). Awareness and medication therapy still remained highly powerful factors on hypertension control. However, the relationship between two of them also needs to be investigated in terms of diverse perspectives related. In addition, Along with lifestyle modification and educational programs, public health policies to reduce financial burdens related to hypertension management should be implemented. © Research India Publications.-
