Though successful university-industry (UI) collaboration may promise numerous potential benefits, partners need to overcome many barriers in order to realize them. Institutional divergences between university and industry cause problems in setting priorities, in conflicts of values, and with timeframe gaps. Capturing tacit knowledge in a university is challenging as it resides in the academic researchers‟ experience. Based on a survey of 338 UI joint R&D projects funded by the Korean government, this paper suggests that bridging institutional divergence effectively and corporate intellectual capital have a positive influence on project performance as measured by perceived contributions to product innovation, process innovation, and project goal achievement. © Research India Publications.-
