dc.description.abstract | This study purposed to analyze the relationship between middle school students’ sports activity level and eating behavior and their quality of life, and for this purposes, conducted a survey of 300 middle school students sampled through convenience sampling in Incheon Metropolitan City in 2013 and used data on 287 students in the final analyses. The survey used a questionnaire as a survey tool, and collected data were processed using PASW 21.0. The hypotheses were tested through ANOVA at significance level p<.05, and Scheffe’s test was used in the post‐hoc test. Conclusions drawn from this study are as follows. First, according to the results of analyzing the relationship between sports activity level and quality of life, the weekly frequency of participation had an effect on physical health (p<.001), and the psychological and environmental domains (p<.05) of quality of life, but the length of time per participation did not have any effect. In addition, the period of participation have an effect on physical health (p<.01) and the environmental (p<.05) domain of quality of life. Second, according to the results of analyzing the relationship between eating behavior and quality of life, the daily number of meals had an effect on the environmental domain (p<.01) and physical health (p<.05) of quality of life, but the average length of time per meal did not have any effect. The regularity of meals had an effect on the psychological and environmental domains (p<.01), and physical health (p<.05) of quality of life, and overeating had an effect on the psychological domain and physical health (p<.05). In addition, snack eating did not have any effect, and the regularity of breakfast had an effect on the environmental domain (p<.01), psychological domain, physical health, and social relationship (p<.05). In order to enhance middle school students’ quality of life, accordingly, the school, the government, and sports organizations should take interest and create environment so that the students may enjoy sports activities regularly and continuously. Moreover, they should be guided and educated on the importance of healthy nutrient intake and eating behavior. | - |
