Abstract
Thanks to the recent development of intellectual image monitoring technologies, the use of PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras that can observe a wider area with fewer cameras is rising. However, image monitoring using the conventional PTZ cameras has a problem because errors occur when coordinate positions are moved. In this paper, to address such problem, a PTZ camera control system based on absolute coordinates was designed and implemented using a SURF algorithm and a coordinate movement transformation algorithm. The implemented system presented a decreased error range with a maximum of 49,9% compared with the conventional systems. © 2014 International Information Institute.
