- Abstract
- Many researches on the hillside city have been done in various ways, but most of the previous studies have limitations because mostly of their two dimensional view point only for economic efficiency. Therefore, in this proposal, three-dimensional use of non- continuous planes is suggested as flexible spaces to meet urban needs such as sustainable development and mutual exchange of communication within the urban area. Non-continuous planes of the hillside cities have been originated in the process of building and expanding many urban areas and these are neglected as unusable and unidentified space. Our researches on origins of non-continuous planes in Seoungnam city lead us to classify four different types of non-continuous planes and these are studied further to be suggested as new urban places for communications in the original part of the city with the proposed four different types of three-dimensional use for non- continuous planes in the urban area. In conclusion, this architectural proposal contains the public utilization of disconnected space and non-continuous planes for the creation of more pleasant and eco-friendly urban environment. The original part of the Seoungnam city will be a new creation of an urban environment with amenities of nature, culture, and mixture for the comfort and convenience of everyday-life through the 4 typological development of non-continuous planes.
