The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of Tai-chi based continuous muscular exercise(CME) on variance of muscle strength and falls efficacy in the elderly. Twenty-four community-dwelling elderly over 65 years old were participated in this study. 12 of 24 subjects were randomly divided into the CME training group and other subjects were assigned to the control(CTR) group. The CME group were performed 3 days per week during 8 weeks program every 1 hour with continuous and exact movements. CTR group were not performed any exercise program. Hip muscles strength tests were conducted three times that before training start, after training 4 weeks and the end of training sessions. And Modified falls efficacy scale(M-FES) questionnaire was conducted before and after 8 weeks training sessions. ① There are significant improvements on hip muscle strength, extensor (p<.001), adductor(p<.001) and abductor(p<.001) in CME group. But there are no improvements in CTR group. ② There is significant improvement on M-FES questionnaire (p=.006) in CME group. But there is no improvement in CTR group. Through the results of this study, there are significant improvements such as hip muscle strength, M-FES questionnaire in CME group after 8 weeks intervention program. so we may speculate that CME exercises program for the elderly can be a major intervention to prevent falls in the elderly-
