Abstract
The objectives of this research are to explore the lifestyle dimensions of the elderly and to verify whether selected sociodemographic factors cause significant differences among their lifestyles and travel motivations. A total of 311 responses were collected with self-administered questionnaires that comprised 3 main sections: questions on lifestyle using 24 general activities, interests, and opinions (AIO) statements, 34 questions about travel motivations, and 8 basic questions about sociodemographic characteristics. The results revealed that sociodemographic characteristics, such as age, gender, marital status, education, health, and economic status, played a crucial role in explaining the difference in lifestyles and travel motivations of the elderly. This study provides insights that allow for better identification of Korean elderly travel market segments. © 2018 Taylor & Francis
