- Abstract
- The study was designed to examine the effects of aerobic exercise on body composition, blood lipids, oxidative stress and hs-CRP of adult obese women. Eighteen adult obese women were volunteered to participate in this study as subjects, and they were randomly assigned to either aerobic exercise group(n=9) or control group(n=9). The subjects in aerobic exercise program for 50min/session, four times per week for 10 weeks, whereas subjects in control were asked to maintain their normal life pattern for the same intervention period. All subjects were asked not to change their physical activity pattern and energy intake throughout the intervention period. Main results of the present study were as follows: 1) Weight, BMI, fat mass and % body fat were significantly decreased in aerobic exercise group. 2) High density lipoprotein(HDL-C) was significantly increased in aerobic exercise group. and total cholesterol(TC) was significantly decreased in aerobic exercise group. 3) The concentration of MDA significantly decreased in aerobic exercise group. 4) hs-CRP was not changed significantly in both groups. It was concluded that 10 weeks of aerobic exercise would be beneficial for body composition, blood lipids and oxidative stress in adult obese women.
