Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of whole-body cold water immersion following eccentric exercise on muscle damage, blood MDA and lactate levels. This study participated 16 healthy men. 8 people were classified as whole-body cold immersion treatment and control treatment, respectively. Counter movement jump and pain VAS were measured, and blood samples were collected at resting, immediately after exercise, 20 minutes after exercise, 30 minutes after exercise and 48 hours after exercise, respectively. As a results, whole-body cold water immersion treatment significantly reduced pain VAS 48 hours after exercise compared to active recovery treatment. whole-body cold water immersion significantly increases the CK concentration in the blood immediately after exercise and 48 hours after exercise compared to the resting. In conclusion, whole-body cold water immersion treatment is effective in recovering pain and muscle damage after eccentric exercise.
