- Abstract
- Smart Cities incorporate and integrate multiple state of the art services and technologies and provide a wide field for innovation in many areas including information technologies, robotics and artificial intelligence. One of the areas is Unmanned Aerial Vehicle development. Great advances in this field, both in civilian and military applications, in functionality, reliability, operation time and safety allows creating new applications for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. In this paper we discuss the implementation of a smart city Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that focuses on the 'Device as a service' model to implement an intelligent service based on the M2M model, Multi-agent Systems and Smart City principles. We discuss the possible applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in a Smart City environment, possible problems and solutions, next we discuss the network integration of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and compare the communication technologies to be used, finally we discuss the structure used to implement the Intelligent Smart City Unmanned Aerial Vehicle platform. © 2016 IEEE.
