Abstract
This study aims to confirm chronic low back pain, lower extremity muscle strength, and static/dynamic equilibrium of female medical workers after eight weeks of Pilates exercise. We constituted an experimental group (Pilates exercise group: PEG) and a control group (CG) of 18 each. The experimental group applied the Pilates exercise program for eight weeks, and the control group restricted exercise and physical activity during the testing period. As a result, statistically significant average differences were found before and after the Pilates exercise program in all variables except standing with eyes open among the experimental group's low back pain disability index, lower extremity muscle strength, static balance, and dynamic balance. In conclusion, compared to the control group who did not do Pilates exercise for eight weeks, the lower extremity muscle strength of the experimental group that executed the Pilates exercise program was strengthened, and static and dynamic balance were improved, which had a positive effect on the reduction of back pain.
