Abstract
Porous materials with many advantages, including interesting structures and specific features, are indispensable for industry and daily life. Lately, the development of emerging porous substances has animatedly materialized thanks to their superior characteristics for multidisciplinary applications. As a novel and outstanding platform for porous crystalline products, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have magnetized many researchers with their good configuration designability, large surface area, and high porosity. In an effort to improve the behavior of pristine COFs, the incorporation of COFs into other adequate materials to constitute derivative composites is definitely essential. In this work, we briefly cover the recent advances of heterostructural composites fabricated via integrating polymers with COFs, focusing on the synthetic methodology and multidisciplinary applications for catalysis, gas separation, energy storage, adsorption, chemical detection, bioimaging, phototherapy, optics, and food safety. Moreover, the intrinsic challenges and development perspectives of such COF-based composite materials are mentioned as well.
