Aime & Scopes
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek will publish high quality papers on fundamental and applied aspects of the microbiology of Bacteria, Archaea and Eukaryotic microbes. Manuscripts that are not considered by the Editor to be sufficiently novel or to be lacking appropriate depth and significance may be rejected without review.
Original articles, short communications and review articles are welcome.
Topics of particular interest include:
/// biochemistry and molecular biology, including bioinformatics
/// ecological and environmental studies, especially molecular ecology
/// genetics
/// genomics
/// medical and veterinary microbiology, especially molecular biological aspects of microbial virulence
/// physiology and metabolic studies
/// structure and development
/// systematics and taxonomy (Descriptions of new microbial taxa: please see separate section with details of our policies regarding manuscripts of this type)
Authors submitting biotechnological manuscripts should consider whether their work is better suited to a more specialised biotechnology journal. Likewise, authors submitting medical microbiology manuscripts papers should consider whether their work is better suited to a more specialised medical microbiology journal.
