Aime & Scopes

  • Regional Studies, Regional Science is an interdisciplinary open access journal from the Regional Studies Association, first published in 2014. We particularly welcome submissions from authors working on regional issues in geography, economics, planning, and political science. The journal features a streamlined peer-review process and quick turnaround times from submission to acceptance. Authors will normally receive a decision on their manuscript within 60 days of submission. The Editors of RSRS are keen to emphasis to prospective authors that we aim to speak to an audience within and beyond the academic world, and as such we expect papers to be written in an accessible and straightforward manner. RSRS allows for a range of article types including full length research articles of up 8,000 words, shorter papers of around 5,000 words and a‘regional graphics’ section, which capitalises upon the importance of geographic data visualisation in our field. We are also happy to accept review papers, and more descriptive papers, so long as they contribute something new. The Editors are always happy to discuss potential submissions. We also offer a mentored paper route for early career academics, for which public calls are regularly made. Adhering to our longstanding publishing hallmarks of quality, methodological rigour and clear communication, our new journal offers potential authors the opportunity the increased readership and visibility that publishing open access affords; allowing authors the opportunity to reach as wide an audience as possible. We are particularly keen to receive submission from those not currently well represented in the academic literature, including regional scholars from developing nations and those writing on regional topics outside the English - speaking world.
