상담자가 인식하는 사회정의 옹호역량에 관한 개념도

Abstract

본 연구에서는 사회통합을 위한 실천적 역량으로 주목받고 있는 사회정의 옹호역량에 대한 상담자들의 인식을 파악하고, 그 기저에 있는 개념적 구조를 확인하고자 하였다. 구체적으로는 개념도 방법(Concept Mapping)을 사용하여 상담자들이 인식하는 사회정의 옹호역량의 요인을 추출하고, 상담 장면에서 사회정의 옹호역량의 중요도와 실천 가능성을 알아보았다. 풍부한 다문화 상담경험을 가진 상담전문가 10인을 대상으로 진술문을 수집하여 최종 진술문 58개를 도출하고, 이에 대해 다차원 척도 분석과 군집 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 국내 상담자들이 인식하는 사회정의 옹호역량은 ‘상담자 인식 중심 대 내담자 역량 중심’ 축과 ‘개인적 접근 대 사회적 접근’ 축의 2차원으로 구성되었고, 군집은 총 5개로 분류되었다. 각각의 군집은 ‘다문화 상담기술’, ‘내담자에게 영향을 미치는 사회문화적 요인의 중요성 인식’, ‘다문화적 지식학습’, ‘내담자의 문제와 관련된 사회 구조적 문제해결을 위한 활동 참여’, ‘내담자 역량 강화’로 명명되었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 상담자의 사회정의 옹호역량 증진을 위한 상담자 교육 방안과 상담자의 역할 확장에 대한 아이디어를 제시하였다.

This study aimed to explore the counselors’ perceptions of social justice advocacy competencies that have received attention as practical competencies for social integration, and also to identify the underlying conceptual structure. Specifically, the present study extracted the factors of social justice advocacy competencies perceived by counselors using the Concept Mapping, and then evaluated the importance and feasibility of those in counseling practice. After collecting statements from ten counselors with abundant multicultural counseling experiences, a total of 58 statements were selected, and then the multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis were conducted. Results indicated that the social justice advocacy competencies perceived by domestic counselors were composed of two dimensions: axis of ‘Counselor Perceptions versus Client Competencies’ and axis of ‘Personal Approach versus Social Approach’ while they were classified into the five clusters. The clusters were labeled ‘Multicultural Counseling Skills’, ‘Awareness of the Importance of Sociocultural Factors Affecting Clients’ Lives’, ‘Acquisition of Multicultural Knowledge’, ‘Participation in Activities for Solving Socio-structural Problems Affecting Clients’ Problems’, and ‘Strengthening Clients’ Competencies’, respectively. Based on the findings, implications for counselor education for enhancing counselors’ social justice advocacy competencies are discussed and also ideas for expanding counselor roles are suggested.
