내현적 자기애 성향, 자존감, 인지적 및 정서적 공감 그리고 대인관계 유능성 간의 관련성 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 내현적 자기애 성향자들의 대인관계 유능성을 설명하는 과정에서 인지적 공감과 정서적 공감, 자존감의 매개효과를 확인 하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권에 소재 대학생 251명을 대상으로 내현적 자기애 척도, 대인관계 유능성 척도, 공감 척도 및 자존감 척도를 측정하였다. 수집된 자료를 사용하여 대인관계 유능성을 예측 하는데 주요한 설명력을 갖는 변수를 탐색하고 이후 각 변수들 간의 관계를 모델로 설정하여 인지적 공감과 정서적 공감, 자존감의 매개효과를 확인해 보았다. 첫째, 대인관계 유능성을 설명하는 내현적 자기애의 목표불안정과 소심 하위요인, 인지적 공감의 시뮬레이션과 조망수용 하위요인, 정서적 공감의 정서 전염, 근접 반응성 하위요인, 자존감이 유의한 설명력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애 성향자들에 대해 고성향 집단과 저성향 집단을 나누어 두 집단 간의 대인관계 유능성의 차이를 살펴본 결과 대인관계 유능성의 모든 하위요인에서 유의한 차이를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애 성향자들의 대인관계 유능성을 설명하는 과정에서 인지적 공감과 정서적 공감 그리고 자존감의 매개효과를 살펴 본 결과 내현적 자기애 성향자들은 대인관계 유능성을 직접적으로 설명하는 동시에 자존감과 인지적 공감에서 유의한 매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구에 대한 종합적인 논의와 추후 연구에 대한 제언을 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem, cognitive-, and affective empathy in explaining interpersonal competence of covert narcissism. For this study, 251 college students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were recruited and they were required to complete the following scales: Covert Narcissism Scale(CNS), Interpersonal Competence Scale(K-ICQ), Korean Version of Questionnair of Cognitive and Affective Empathy Scale(K-QCAE), Self-Esteem Scale(SES). The data were used to investigate the variables with power of explanation in predicting interpersonal competence: then, a causal explanatory model among variables were established to see the mediating effects of self-esteem, cognitive-, and affective empathy. The results were as following: First, Goal Instability of covert narcissism and sub-factor of Timidity, Simulation of cognitive empathy and sub-factor of Perspective Taking, Emotional Contagion in emotional empathy, sub-factor of Proximal Responsivity and Self Esteem were significant in explaining interpersonal competence. Second, covert narcissists were divided into two sub-groups: high tendency and low tendency and the differences in interpersonal competence were examined. It was found that every sub-factors of interpersonal competence were significant. Third, when the mediating effects of self-esteem, cognitive, and affective empathy were examined in an attempt to explain the interpersonal competence of covert narcissists; it was found that they not only explained were their interpersonal competence directly, but also significant mediating effects were found in self-esteem and cognitive empathy. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed with suggestions for the further study.
