식물의 상태가 실내공간에서 사용자의 감정에 미치는 영향

Abstract

Plants have been used broadly in indoor spaces, with various types. One type of plants used in indoor spaces is ‘dried plants’, plants that are dried or that looks like it’s dry. The dried plants have been frequently used in indoor spaces because they have colors and forms that are different from healthy green plants, thereby creating unique atmosphere. However, the study about the effects of indoor plants on users overall emotion according to their type was absent. Thus, this study aims to analyze how the dried and healthy plants affect the users’ emotion in indoor spaces. For this, we carried out experiments in two different spaces, one of which is designed with healthy green plants, and the other with dried plants. In order to evaluate emotional state of users, K-POMS survey was used, and the survey data were analyzed by t-test. As a result, subjects showed more negative emotion in space with dried plants than in the space with healthy plants. These findings indicate that indoor dried plants could arouse negative emotion of users so that designers should use them properly in consideration of their emotional effects. In future, further studies to investigate the effects of indoor dried plants in various aspects such as user’s productivity and physical health are required for the better use of dried plants in indoor space design.
