Being known to nearly all Chinese people, stories of Wu Zixu involving his words & deeds are also pieces widely spreaded throughout the country. Pretending to be loyal to his foe, King of the State of Wu named Fuchai as a servantlike subordinate while along wacthing his own chance for a plan of revenge for his own motherland in defiance of dissuasions of his father, Wu has then become a controversial figure in the later generations while comments & disputes upon him as a historical personage have had never stopped. Representative works such as SHIJI & representative ideology of Neo-Confucianists for example the so-called Loyalty and Filial Piety had also intrigued scholars in Joseon on Wu Zixu, as above--mentioned, an important also controcersial figure in Chinese history. In this paper, analyses from three aspects: breadth, depth and evaluation, of the acceptance of Wu Zixu by Joseon scholars are being made based upon 18 pieces of their proses collected by the author. Briefly, the process of the acceptance of Wu Zixu by scholars according to the research can be summarized as follows: Single Acceptance, Complex Acceptance and Typical Acceptance. The perspectives of concern on Wu Zixu by Joseon scholars are expanding continuously as the concerns have been gradually expanded from “dissuasive” and “whipping the corpse” to “resenting Fuchai”, “revenge” and “ignorance of his father’s dissuasions”. As the perspectives expand and dilate, the depth of the acceptance is no longer limited to its surface. Mainly around the contents “ignorance of his father’s dissuasions”, “revenge for his motherland”, scholars seted the scene, reeled silk from cocoons, polemic linked together and deepened layer up layer, while along, their evaluations of Wu Zixu can be summarized as follows: positive ones, also mixed or complete negative ones. Based upon the core ideology of Neo-Confucianism, the criteria of evaluations they drew, are applying 2 mostly adopted ones at that time as they’re the so-called “righteousness between sovereign and his ministers” and “righteousness in paternity”, while also as it’s known, that different values rendered different evaluations. In addition, Joseon scholars also showed their infinite pity for Wu Zixu in their works beyond their flat comments & evaluations upon this historical figure.-
