This publication describes the orientation and formation of Muridism of North Caucasus in Russia in the first of 19th century. Usually, the mass religious movement that led to the creation of the Islamic Government of Daghestan and Chechnya is attributed to Muridism. There are several versions of how Muridism penetrates into the North Caucasus. This article analyzes two trends of Muridism in detail and describes how Muridism coped with Imperial Russia.-
