혁신지향 강소기업의 경제적 효과 연구:World Class 300 선정기업을 중심으로

Abstract

강소기업의 육성은 산업의 발전에 중요하고 시급한 과제이다. 본 연구는 혁신지향적이며, 성장지향적인 중소･중견기업 육성 정부지원 프로그램인 월드클래스 300 지원사업에 선정된 기업과 비슷한 수준의 비선정기업을 두 시점 간 비교분석한다. 경제적 효과로는 매출액과 종업원 수를 비교하고, 혁신지향성을 포착하는 지표로는 R&D집약도를 산출해 비교분석한다. 2011년과 2012년에 선정된 월드클래스300 기업 63개와 비교대상기업 96개로 분석자료를 구축하고 최소자승 회귀분석 및 Tobit회귀분석을 수행한 결과, 월드클래스300에 선정된 기업은 비슷한 수준의 선정되지 않은 기업보다 경제적 성과와 혁신지향성이 높아진다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 혁신지향 강소기업의 경제적 성과와 혁신지향성에 대한 실증근거를 제시함으로써 이들에 대한 학술적, 정책적 중요성을 상기시킨다는 의의가 있다.

Fostering innovative small and medium enterprises is an important and urgent task for further industrial development of Korea. This study analyzes both economic and innovation performance of innovative small and medium enterprises who were selected for the World Class 300 program, a government support program for growth-oriented innovative SMEs. In particular, we compare R & D intensities, sales, and the number of employees between 63 World Class 300 companies and 96 comparable companies. As a result of performing least-squares regression analysis and Tobit regression analysis, we found that the economic performance and the innovation orientation are higher for the World Class 300 companies than the compared ones.
