- Abstract
- Shared economy refers to an economic model that sublates the consumption-oriented economy based on mass production and consumption while advocating the cooperative sharing of existing resources, and conveys a range of value involving the improvement of per capita income using idle resources, coping with environmental issues and leveling up social capital. The present study was intended to explore the shared value of shared space with a view to breaking from the possession culture from a spatial perspective. Also, this study sub-divided the shared value in the shared economy into economic, social and environmental values and analyzed the corporate cases of space sharing in Seoul. The case analysis highlighted the use of idle space for economic benefits of both space users and providers, the diverse social interactions via space sharing, and the sustainable shared value of using spatial resources that proved conducive to minimizing unnecessary consumption.
