- Abstract
- The main purpose of this study is to propose a control strategy for a liquid-desiccant and dew point evapotive cooling-assisted 100% outdoor air system (LDEOS). Recently, many researchers investigated an alternative air handling unit by combining a liquid-desiccant unit and a dew point evaporative cooler to reduce energy consumption and refrigerant use. For a liquid-desiccant and indirect evaporative cooling-based system, many studies have been done on its energy performance but a control strategy. In this study, a new variable air and temperature (VVT) control strategy for the LDEOS is proposed, and its performance is evaluated on Building Controls Virtual Test Bed (BCVTB). A one-minute time step simulation result reveals that the LDEOS conditions the space within a general comfortable range by using the proposed control strategy.
