New quinoxaline-based dyes were synthesized and applied as a sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cell. A quinoxaline moiety was used as an electron withdrawing group and triphenylamine and phenothiazine derivatives were introduced as electron donating groups. The dyes synthesized with the phenothiazine moiety showed greater conversion efficiency than dyes with the triphenylamine moiety leading to the best overall power conversion efficiency of 436%.-
