경제수학의 응용으로서의 쿠르노 모형 분석

Abstract

학부 미시경제학에서 쿠르노 모형을 다룰 때 보통 그림을 이용하거나 수요함수가 선형이고 한계비용이 상수인 특수한 모형을 상정하여 여러 결과를 도출하는 것이 일반적이다. 본 논문은 수요와 비용이 일반적인 함수로 주어진 쿠르노 모형에서도 이러한 결과가 성립하는지를 학부 경제수학 수준의 수학적 기법을 활용해 분석한다. 분석 결과에 따르면 수요함수가 오목하다는 가정하에서 대부분의 결과가 그대로 성립함을 알 수 있다. 본 논문의 분석은 쿠르노 모형이 학부 경제수학 강의에서 가르치는 여러 수학적 기법을 적용할 수 있는 좋은 사례로 활용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

In the discussion of Cournot model in undergraduate microeconomics, most results are derived under the assumption that the demand function is linear and the marginal cost is constant. This paper investigates whether the same results hold in a more general setting using mathematical techniques at the level of introductory mathematical economics. The analyses of this paper show that qualitatively the same results hold assuming the concavity of demand curve. This paper shows that Courmot model can serve as a good case to which we can apply various mathematical techniques.
