Abstract
A compact dual-band slot antenna with capacitor loading is proposed for the wireless local area network bands (2.4-2.49 and 5.15-5.35 GHz). The antenna is composed of a modified L-shaped slot and a capacitor. The capacitor is used to generate two surface-current paths on the ground and to miniaturize the antenna size. The proposed antenna has an omni-directional radiation pattern with antenna peak gains of 2.2 dBi at 2.44 GHz and 2.7 dBi at 5.25 GHz. Radiation efficiencies are greater than 60% over the operating frequency bands.
