dc.description.abstractThe stability of suction caisson for offshore wind energy installed in composite ground was evaluated by examining its vertical/horizontal bearing capacity. To this end, 3-D finite element analysis was performed on the three sites having multi strata. The comparison of both vertical and horizontal bearing capacity between the results of simulation and empirical formula was made to validate the proposed model for case of suction caisson installed in a deep single layer. The simulation results clearly demonstrate that the bearing capacity and behavior of suction caisson are significantly affected by not only where the suction caisson is located in the composite ground but also howcomposed the multi-layered ground is.-
