dc.description.abstractThis paper presents the optimization method that minimizes the higher harmonics of the magnetic flux density of the air gap of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) for the iron loss reduction satisfying the performance requirement. The level set based optimization method is applied to design the shape of a rotor and stator of IPMSM. The iron loss is calculated by performing harmonic analysis of the magnetic flux density at each node based on the magnetostatic analysis with the experimental data. The proposed method is applied to design the IPMSM of a hybrid starter and generator. It is confirmed that iron loss of the optimal design is reduced while meets the torque requirement.-
