- Abstract
- Adolescence is differentiated from other development stages for the significant physical and emotional changes a person goes through that stage. Correct protection measures, as well as adequate methods of upbringing are necessary to facilitate their entrance into society and to build a stronger future for the country; accompanied with special and detailed care, understanding and support. However, the rapidly changing society, industrialization, urbanization and informatization are alienating adolescents from their families and from regional communities. This study has surveyed communal residencies in the Seoul area and the community facilities within them and has analyzed their correlation with the adolescents’ emotional reactions according to their school age. We have also tried to understand the adolescents’ needs and attempted at providing a more careful residential environment rather than the uniform residences we currently have. Our survey sample includes 60 middle school and high school male students from 500 families residing in 12 different communal residencies in Seoul and in the Gyeonggi area. The areas surveyed were divided into studying spaces, cultural spaces, and sports facilities. We modeled the color code of sensitive vocabulary and provided it as visual stimulants to analyze the brain reactions. This study showed us the differences in sensitive vocabulary preferences for community facilities displayed by the adolescents according to their age. Therefore, in order for community facilities within communal residencies to actively support and activate leisure and academic activities for adolescents, they have to be connected to their emotional characteristics. It is also important to minutely plan according to their school age.
