- Abstract
- High complexity of computer-generated holography (CGH) is already well known to researchers in the field of optical engineering. Therefore, in order to improve the practicability of CGH, it should be substantially reduced. In this paper, we proposed a method that can quickly generate digital video holograms using a spatio-temporal sampling scheme and general purpose graphic processing units (GPGPUS). Spatio-temporal sampling can reduce the amount of CGH calculations by half. GPGPUS can reduce the processing time of CGH calculations. As a result, use of GPUS made CGH faster by about 11,017 times and use of spatio-temporal sampling made CGH faster by about 1.947 times. Then, in user tests with 22 people, the difference of image quality between spatio-temporal sampling and non-sampling could not be distinguished with naked eyes.
