Abstract
The standardization of Long Term Evolution- Advanced (LTE-Advanced) is based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technologies. In OFDMA, inter-cell interference (ICI) is inevitable and causes performance degradation of user equipments (UE) in cell edge region. When the influence of ICI is severe, the effect of imperfect channel state information (CSI) is also intensified in a MIMO receiver. In the previous work, we proposed the fractional frequency reuse (FFR) algorithm to improve cell edge user throughput affected by ICI. However, the imperfect CSI has not been considered in the work. In this paper, we provide and analyze user throughput considering the effects of both ICI and imperfect CSI in a MIMO zero-forcing receiver using the FFR algorithm in LTE-Advanced system through a system level simulator (SLS).
