dc.description.abstractThe propose of this studyis to evaluate the rotation capacityof WUF-W (Welded Unreinforced Flange-Welded web)connections for SMF System. In this study, full-scale exterior test specimens were made and quasi-static cyclic testing wasconducted. The major variable of the test specimens are the geometry of the weld access hole. This paper investigates thefacture location, moment-interstory drift and plastic rotation capacity of the moment connections. This test observed that thetest specimens designed according to current seismic design provisions fractured in the beam flange before achieving totalinterstory drift angle of 0.04 radian required for SMF system in ANSI/AISC-341, while the test specimen having a modifiedgeometry of the weld access hole achieved a total inter-story drift angle of 0.04 radians.-
