This paper presents the Multi-response Taguchi robust design of back electromotive force (EMF) and cogging torque considering the manufacturing tolerances for electric machine. Control factors which affect the back EMF and cogging torque are chosen. The design using the Multi-response Taguchi method is performed in order to reduce the effect of variation of the noise factors caused by the manufacturing tolerances. In the Taguchi robust design, multi-response can not be considered. General Taguchi robust design is hard to employ. Therefore, Multi-response signal to noise (MRSN) ratio based on Taguchi robust design considering multiple responses is employed. Finally, the robust optimum combination of control factors is selected on the basis of the result used by Taguchi robust design based on MRSN.-
