| dc.description.abstract | This paper attempts to propose a method to improve the snapshot boot method, one of the methods to enhance the booting speed of the embedded Linux based system and to increase its efficiency. Snapshot boot is a method of using suspend/resume that is a method of saving and restoring the entire information of the current tasks, and it enhances the booting speed by processing a restoration of previous tasks from the bootloader instead of processing the Linux booting. There are two facing problems of snapshot boot. One of them is that it takes normal linux booting time if the switch is turned off while creating an image by some extraordinary circumstances, then the image is not created. The other one is that the system can not restore the previous status if the enhanced Snapshot Boot method is used. The proposed method in this paper uses two areas for Snapshot Image. It makes the Snapshot Image when system goes to suspend mode at first boot time. Then, system stores the snapshot image into one of the area in storage device and it makes the snapshot image again if it goes to power down. If the system can not make the snapshot image during power down, system will use the saved snapshot image in next boot time. The proposed method using two areas in storage device keeps the enhanced booting speed and can also restore previous status of the system. | - |
