Lee, Seung-Su. 2006. Study on the Anti-Confucian Tradition in East Asia's History of Literature - With Emphasis on the Song, Jiang Part of Jin, Shengtan's ≪The Water Margin≫. This study highlights on Jin, Shengtan's (1608-1661) evaluation of Song, Jiang, which is known as the most epic part of his ≪The Water Margin≫, to examine the anti-Confucian tradition in East Asia's history of literature. For this purpose, the characteristics of character depiction in ≪The Water Margin≫, one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of Chinese novels, and Song, Jiang who is thought to have dual personality in the story. Then, Chapters 35 through 37, where Song, Jiang is exiled to Jiang Zhou was examined to analyze Jin, Shengtan's criticism of Song, Jiang and its meaning. According to Jin, Shengtan, Song, Jiang insists faith and devotion, and endurance and justice, but is actually a very hypocritical and pretentious character who even betrays what he says. Jin, Shengtan was very skeptical about the hypocritical Confucian scholars in the late Ming Dynasty and tried to show his antipathy through his criticism of Song, Jiang. The anti-Confucian ideas were emerged by Zhuang Zi and continued to Jin, Shengtan, Park, Ji Won of Joseon (1737~1805) and Lu, Xun of Modern China (1881~1936). This flow can be described as the anti-Confucian tradition of East Asia's epic literature. This particular piece is a hypothetical discussion of this topic.-
