dc.description.abstract | An internal multiband monopole antenna for application in a USB dongle is proposed. The antenna consists of two metal strips which are constructed of a dielectric substrate and have a volume of 20 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm. The multiband characteristic is obtained by using a folded meander strip on the top side of the substrate, and the wideband performance in the lower band is achieved by connecting an inverted L-shaped stub to the ground. The measured bandwidths were 26.1% (1.7-2.9 GHz) in the lower band for the DCS-1800, US-PCS, WCDMA, WiMax. 2.4 GHz-WLAN, and S-DMB bands and 15.5% (5.05-5.9 GHz) in the upper band for the 5 GHz-WLAN band. Nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns and reasonable antenna gains were obtained in the desired frequency bands. | - |
