dc.description.abstractIn this paper, an antenna for mobile handsets is considered as a lossy transmission line to find the relationship between an antenna bandwidth and an antenna height. From this equivalent circuit, it is observed that low characteristic impedance due to proximity of ground makes low input impedance which reduces a bandwidth. This paper proposes the gap-fed monopole antenna to reutilize the empty space under the meander antenna for GSM band. As a result, two printed monopole antennas are fitted within small area on the mobile handset which operates at GSM band and WiBro band.-
