Abstract

The most speciality of Chung-ma Yoo Chi-hwan's features is that he didn't encounter with the main current of discussion in those days though he experienced age of possession by Japan and age of division. Chung-ma was free from pure part and participation part forming the main current of discussion because his poems came out not historical and ideological field but the world of genuineness and will verging on archetype. Also his poems weren't written by fleshly and microscopic emotion, they pursued the world of a transcendental state over the present situation. Chung-ma had confrontation of consciousness through the will for pure life for his whole life. He was a poet who wrote many ethical and ideal poems and showed deep range to the history of Korea poetry having strong female tendency. The degree of purity and passion in Chung-ma's poems came from consistency power possessed by genuineness. This genuineness was an innate desire, it transformed to passionate love in spite of any actual limitations when Chung-ma met a lover. However he recognized that life is death and pain as other self of the universe is transmitted from human's will. The source of Chung-ma was in harmony and unity of genuineness and will. The genuineness forced to him having cold hearted will in nihilistic world. His poems transcending whole human's feeling and holding cold hearted will forced to look into his pure spirit world to readers. When his genuineness faced to unjust world, it was presented as voice of heated will. In this point, to coexist poems focused on an age of oppression and uncleanliness world and poems singing love and yearning in his poetic world is very natural. Likewise his poems are beautiful love songs, severe songs of pursuing life and evidence report including voice of response against the real.
