| dc.description.abstract | The dispersion relation for a dust ion-acoustic surface wave is obtained for the semi-bounded dusty plasma containing elongated and rotating charged dust particles. The equilibrium plasma velocity distribution function is taken to be Lorentzian. Dust particles are assumed to be cold. The result shows that the frequency of the dust ion-acoustic surface wave propagating at the plasma-vacuum interface can be lowered by the increase of the angular rotation frequency of the elongated dust particles in the range that k(x)lambda(e) >= 1, where k(x) and lambda(e) are the wave number and electron Debye length, respectively. In addition, the increase of the spectral index kappa in the Lorentzian distribution function is found to increase the phase velocity of the wave, especially in the case that k(x)lambda(e) <= 10. The influence of kappa and wave number on the group velocity of the surface wave is also analyzed. (C) 2008 American Institute of Physics. | - |
