| dc.description.abstract | Several experts have argued that the recent policy course rigidly controling new developments in inner cities would aggravate the shortage of housing supply in Seoul. Intense developments near subway stations have been considered as a proper alternative topattern in the SMA. This paper reassesses the suitability of that aproach based on theoretical arguments and recently provided empirical works. Those arguments reconfirm that Transit Oriented Developments could actualize an eficient land use pattern by improving overal jobs-housing balance, rough a higher use of public transits, reduce destruction of environmentally sensitive lands in urban fringe areas, and stabilize the housing prices as providing houses in the highly demanded places within the iner city areas. | - |
