- Abstract
- In this paper, we present the result from a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) case study investigating the regionally distinctive operational efficiencies of Third-Party Logistics (3PLs) providers in the Southeast Asia region. This study explored the effects of DEA on 3PLs baseline operational performance assessments. We first selected the input variables: capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expense, and the number of employees, each of which can reflect the competitiveness of the core operational process, such as facility utilization, process efficiency, and labor productivity of 3PLs. Furthermore, the criteria for selecting output variables are to consolidate critical logistics performance such as operating income and revenue. The computation results were analyzed to understand the regional operational characteristic performance differences across the 11 Southeast Asia countries, from which a total of 117 3PL firms were selected. The results offer managerial implication useful for international business and collaboration management of Korean logistics industry firms.
