| dc.description.abstract | Purpose: To investigate applicability of on-demand recirculation domestic hot water (DHW) system on domestic apartment housing. On-demand recirculation DHW system is one of the circulation type system for DHW supply which minimizes wasted time, water and energy from waiting period of the occupant. Method: To assess the applicability, TRNSYS simulation is utilized program to compare normal branch system and on-demand recirculation system, as the TRNSYS is suitable for simulate transient condition. For the simulation, factors and conditions including two main factors-shower schedule and tap water temperature- are assumed along the previous literature. Based on the condition, simulation model including both system was built and simulation was conducted. Result: The result showed that the on-demand recirculation system can save 4.5% of water consumption and 0.7% of domestic hot water supply energy. Further study is needed to consider detailed hot water consumption schedule. It is to be hoped that this paper will serve as a basis for the domestic research of the on-demand recirculation DHW system. | - |
