이승훈 시의 매체 미학

Abstract

이승훈의 시 세계는 비대상과 자아 탐구, 자아소멸과 해체, 자타불이와 선의 시기로 구분된다. 이승훈은 1990년대 중반 이후 2000년까지 세 권의 시집을 펴내며 해체에 골몰한다. 대상과 자아의 부정에서 해체로의 이행은 인식론적․존재론적 전회(轉回)로 읽힌다. 아서 단토에 기대자면, 이승훈은 ‘시의 죽음’ 이후 시 쓰기의 가능성을 천착한 것이다. 언어의 물질성이 전경화되며, 언어는 시적 과정을 제시하는 재현의 대상 매체로 간주된다. 이승훈은 예술과정의 제도적 질서에서 절연하며 기존의 작업을 배반하듯 전혀 다른 스타일을 선보였다. 본고에서는 이러한 양상을 ‘레이트 아방가르드’ 전략으로 규정했다. 이승훈 스스로 천명한 방법론은 ‘복합매체 미학’이다. 시는 물질적 매체로서의 언어가 자기를 실현하는 매체 특정적인 공간에 가까워진다. 다른 장르, 다른 텍스트 및 질료를 혼성모방하면서 이승훈은 과정으로서의 매체 미학을 선보인다. 매체의 복수성을 경유하며 시적인 것의 가능성은 역구성된다. 매체로의 전회 이후의 시는 이전에 부정한 시를 확장하며 생성적으로 재규정한다. 시라는 기표의 근본적인 결여를 통해 시적인 것의 실존이 현시된다. 바로 그 불가능성의 기표로서 시적인 것의 가능성은 다시 사유될 수 있었던 것이다.

Lee Seung-hun’s poetic world is divided into non-object and self-exploration, self-extinction and deconstruction, concept of non-duality and Sŏn(禪) period. Lee Seung-hun has published three books of poetry from the mid-1990s to 2000 and is eager to deconstruction. The transition from negation of object and ego to deconstruction is read as epistemological and ontological ‘turn’. To lean on Arthur Danto, Lee Seung-hun discovered the possibility of writing poetry after ‘The Death of Poetry’. The materiality of language is foregrounded, and language is regarded as a media for representation that presents a poetic process. Lee Seung-hun insulated his poetry from the institutional order of the artistic process and showed a completely different style as if betraying the on-going works all at once. In this paper, this aspect was defined as a ‘late avant-garde’ strategy. Lee Seung-hun’s own methodology is ‘intermedia aesthetics’. Poetry approaches a media-specific space in which language as a material media realizes itself. In a pastiche technique of different genres, different texts, and textures, Lee Seung-hun presents media aesthetics as a process. The possibility of poetic one is deconstructed composition, passing through the plurality of media. Poetry after the turn into the media expand and redefines previously denied concept of poetry. The existence of poetic one is revealed through the fundamental lack of the significant of poetry. The possibility of poetic one as a sign of the very impossibility could have been reconsidered.
