- Abstract
- The objective of this paper is to study running safety and ride comfort in order to apply complex partial girders for railway bridges. The complex partial girders are composed of composite I-girders at the center portion of span and composite box girders at support regions. For the simply supported railway bridge having a 60m long span with a complex partial girder, when KTX train load for design speed 350km/h is applied, static and dynamic analyses were performed by using the finite element method. The vertical displacement of the bridge, the vertical acceleration of the bridge, and the distortion of the track were calculated by the analyses. Using the calculated values, the riding comfort and running safety were checked according to Korea Design Standard (KDS). From the results, it was concluded that the complex partial box girder may be applied to the railway bridges if the cross section optimization and the reinforcement are made.
