- Abstract
- This study investigated a multi-functional cascade heat pump system applied to a residential building. The design method and energy performance evaluation of the cascade heat pump system were conducted. The reference system was selected as seperated two heat pumps in charge of cooling, heating and hot water supply to compare the simulation result. The target building was set to residential of 100m2. The thermal load of target building was derived with commercial building analysis tool, and the thermodynamic equation and the EnergyPlus model equation were used. As a result, the proposed system saves 13% energy in cooling mode and 18% in heating mode. The energy saving effect was occured at the compression ratio of each high- and low-cycle decreasing due to the effect of recovering unused waste heat in summer and increasing the temperature of the refrigerant in winter.
