dc.description.abstractTraditional markets are cultural places that people can f eel the local cultural qualities of the region through shopping and communication. However, the traditional market has been stagnant due to various reasons such as changes in consumer tastes, competition with large shopping centers, etc. But one of the m ain reasons m ark ets are gradually losing their function and role is because they are unable to provide clean and convenient facilities like their competitors. Therefore, the government-level cultural and tourism type market development project was implemented to promote traditional m ark ets and prom ote balanced distribution industries. Despite all the disadvantages, a wide variety of people are still frequenting traditional markets. Senior citizens visit trying to find some remnants of the old days, young people shop for cheaper prices and f resh produce and tourists visit the markets to experience the culture of Korea. Therefore it is imperative that these markets are well equipped to attend their visitor’s needs. The purpose of this study is to provide an environment where the visitors of Cultural-Tourism oriented markets are not physically constrained by evaluating the applicability of universal design in traditional markets to enhance the value and competitiveness of traditional markets. Having evaluated the N oryangj in F isheries W holesale M ark et w e concluded that overall the facilities did not provide enough universal design, especially in the areas of walking spaces and amenities, and this problem should be solved so everyone can use the facilities equally.-
