키르기스스탄의 사회적 기업가정신: 정치사회적 환경이 사회적 기업 창업과정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

Abstract

체제전환국 맥락 하에서의 환경 요인이 사회적 기업가정신 과정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 몇몇 연구자에 의해 진행되었다. 하지만 중앙아시아 국가를 연구 맥락으로 선정하여 국가 수준의 정치 및 사회적 환경이 사회적 기업 창업과정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 존재하지 않는다. 이에 본 연구는 중앙아시아 국가인 키르기스스탄을 연구 맥락으로 선정하여 정치적 환경(부패, 국가 권력에 대한 불신)과 사회적 환경(교육, 소득 불평등)이 사회적 기업의 사업기회 개발 과정에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 기존 사회적 기업가정신 연구 중 체제전환국을 맥락으로 한 연구가 제한적인 바 본 연구는 가추적(abductive) 사례 연구 방법을 활용하였으며, 키르기스스탄에 위치한 9개의 사회적 기업을 대상으로 실증연구를 진행하였다. 수집한 자료를 분석한 결과 키르기스스탄의 국가 환경 요인 중 ‘국가 권력에 대한 불신’, ‘교육’, ‘소득 불평등’은 사회적 기업의 사업기회 개발 과정에 상당한 영향을 미침을 발견하였다. 하지만 흥미롭게도 본 연구에서 주목한 또 다른 환경 요인인 ‘부패’는 사회적 기업의 사업기회 개발 과정에 별다른 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기존 기업가정신 연구에서 다루지 못한 중앙아시아 국가 맥락에서의 사회적 기업가정신 현상을 조사하였다는 점에서 학술 및 실무적 함의를 가진다.

There are a few previous studies on the influence of the environment and the social entrepreneurship process in transition economies. However, to our knowledge, there are no studies considering the political and social environment as influencing factors in social entrepreneurship in the context of countries in the Central Asia region. This study attempts to bridge this gap in social entrepreneurship research in the transition economies by investigating the effects of the political environment (corruption and lack of trust in authority) and social environment (education and income inequality) on the opportunity development process of social entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan. The sample for this study includes nine social enterprises in Kyrgyzstan. Due to the scarcity of previous research on social entrepreneurship in transition economies, especially in the Central Asia region, an abductive case study research design was employed. This research revealed that the opportunity development process in social enterprises in Kyrgyzstan is affected by the political factor (the lack of trust in authority) and social factors (education and income inequality). However, there was no connection between corruption, as a political factor, and the opportunity development process.
