Abstract
In order to increase the energy self-sufficiency rate of buildings, research on using the maximum amount of renewable energy is continuously being studied, and the most widely used method is building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV). However, resolving these shortcomings requires system solutions that can increase the PV efficiency or utilize heat sources to improve system efficiency. Therefore, to harvest energy from solar heat, which is accumulated in BIPV, a thermoelectric generator can generate the power from the temperature difference between PV panel and ambient. In addition, a croencapsulated phase change material was applied to maintain the temperature difference of TEG on both sides for a longer time and to reduce heat transfer to the indoor side. Therefore, in this study, the performance of building integrated photovoltaic integrated thermoelectric generator and microencapsulated phase change material (BIPV-TEG-PCM) was analyzed through experiments to improve the energy independence of buildings.
