관광고 교사의 교육 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구 - 콜버그의 인지발달이론과 듀이의 경험철학을 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 연구는 학교라는 유기적 환경 속에서 교사 경험의 연속성을 통해 시간적, 사회적 경험을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구 목적 수행을 위해 내러티브 탐구 방법론을 활용하였는데 인간의 삶은 연속성을 가진 경험의 총체이며 경험은 시간의 흐름과 함께 사회적 관계와 맥락에서 언어를 매개로 타자에게 전달되기 때문이다(홍영숙, 2015; Clandinnin & Connelly, 2008). 연구목적 수행을 위한 내러티브 탐구의 연구퍼즐은 첫째, 김교사의 관광고등학교 교사로서의 경험은 어떠한가, 둘째, 교육 현장에서 어떠한 교육 목표를 가지고 수행하는가이다. 연구 수행 결과 연구참여자의 과거 경험이 현재의 시간, 장소와 교차하였으며 사회적 분위기 내에서 김교사의 경험을 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간으로 확인하였다. 분석 결과 총 4개의 주제를 도출하였으며 각 주제는 김교사의 승무원 지망생에서 교사로의 진로 전환, 관광고등학교에서 김교사의 일상, 사명감이 없다면 하지 못할 것 같아요, 언제까지 버틸 수 있을까이다. 인터뷰 대화 진행과 현장텍스트 작성을 작성하며 콜버그의 도덕발달단계이론, 듀이의 경험철학, 공격성 3개의 이론을 도출하였고 분석에 적용하였다. 본 연구는 이론적 관점에서 콜버그의 도덕발달단계이론과 듀이의 경험철학 이론을 관광고등학교의 교육 현장으로 확장하였으며, 실무적 관점에서 상위단계의 인지발달을 위한 갈등 상황 제시의 토론식 수업과 한국 문화와 정서에 접목한 교육 프로그램을 제안하였다.

This study explored the temporal and social experiences of teachers through the continuity of their experiences within a school environment. Using narrative inquiry methodology, it examined how human life is composed of continuous experiences communicated through language in social contexts over time. The research focused on two main questions: What are Teacher Kim’s experiences at a tourism high school, and what educational goals does he pursue? The findings revealed that past experiences intersect with the present, forming a three-dimensional narrative inquiry space. Four themes emerged: Teacher Kim’s transition from cabin crew to teacher, his daily life at the school, the belief that “I can’t do it without a sense of mission,” and the question, “How long can I endure?” The study applied Kohlberg’s moral development theory, Dewey’s experiential philosophy, and theories of aggression, extending these theoretical insights into the tourism high school context. Practical implications included the development of discussion-based classes to promote cognitive development and an educational program that integrates Korean culture and emotions.
