Present investigation deals with the effectiveness of combined dilute alkali and polymer modified jute in controlling the setting and hydration behaviour of cement. Modification of jute fibre by combined alkali and polymer emulsion is a selective pathway to recover the delayed setting and hydration behaviour of jute cement paste. Setting time measurement, hydration test, free lime content estimation, SEM and FUR were the selective choice to evaluate the targeted importance. Based on these analyses a model has been proposed to explain the hydration delaying effect of jute is recovered by the application of appropriate polymer content (0.0513%) in emulsion.-
