| dc.description.abstract | This review examines progress in gas–liquid mass transfer, emphasizing enhancements in CO2 absorption and associated chemical processes. Structured packing in packed towers is noted for its enhanced capacity, separation efficiency, and diminished pressure drops relative to random packings. The accurate assessment of packing mass transfer coefficients is essential, and numerous models have been created to fulfill this requirement. The review evaluates the efficacy of packed towers in terms of capacity, pressure drops, and process requirements, highlighting methods to improve mass transfer, such as pulsation, thin film creation, and phase dispersion. Pulsation is recognized as very useful at enhancing interface turbulence, as evidenced by experimental data and case studies. This analysis highlights the possibility of modifying gas–liquid contactors to enhance CO2 collection efficiency and delineates future research avenues for enhancing environmental technologies and mitigating pollution. | - |
